How does one handle a date on the calendar that should bring great joy, but now causes one to remember and think about things that could have been? We all have them and today is one of those days for me. October 28th, was the day that Tyler was born and that day brings so much joy to my mind and my heart, but today as I think of October 28th I think of things that would or could have been. Today Tyler would have turned 22 years old. Today I choose to lean into my faith and my belief that the God of heaven, the one true God who made everything, the God that has been, is now and will forever be is in control and He has a plan. Today I choose to focus on His faithfulness and His goodness as I remember the true blessing it was to be Tyler’s father for the 20 years that God blessed us with him. Today I choose to be ok with not having all the answers to questions I have, because as the Bible the very breath of God (2 Tim 3:16) tells me, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 (NASB)
Today, I choose to be joyful for a God that chose me. A God that loved me so much that He chose to send His own Son to earth out of heaven to become a man, to live as a man while being fully God, to live a perfect life as a man and then to die as a sacrifice for me. Then He rose from the dead to overcome death once and for all, that all who believe in Him shall live forever in eternity with Him. That is why I can choose joy today, because I know that Tyler believed in Jesus and what Jesus did for him.
I hope that today you choose to Smile and Have a Good Day. Choose to have a good day because you believe in a God that loves you and chooses you. Choose today to believe in His one and only Son, Jesus as your way to have the best day ever, every day of eternity with Him in heaven.
So today if you know and follow Jesus let your life shine for Him in a way that is unmistakable to those around you. Choose today to live a life that when others see you they want what you have, no matter what is going on in your life, let them know that you have something that is far greater than anything this life can offer and something that overcomes anything this life can bring your way. Let them know you have hope in Jesus. If you don’t know Jesus and don’t know what it means to choose Him as your way to a perfect eternity in heaven, call me, text me, send me an email. Talk to someone in your life that you know knows Jesus and do not wait. For we know none of us are guaranteed tomorrow, so do not put off today what will matter for the rest of eternity. Tomorrow may be too late.
Today,I choose joy, today I choose to remember that Tyler chose to follow Jesus and today I choose to cling to the goodness of God and His love and faithfulness to me; I choose to Smile and Have a Good Day as I remember my son who believed and lived for God’s one and only Son, Jesus.
